On January 18–19, 2025, the city of Poznań, Poland hosted the Poznań MCR Open 2025, a prestigious mahjong tournament played under the Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR).
The event, organized by the Calisia Mahjong Club, gathered players from Poland and across Europe, who competed for valuable points in the Mahjong Europe Association (EMA) ranking.

MERS 3 – a tournament of high importance

The Poznań MCR Open 2025 carried the MERS 3 ranking value, making it one of the notable events in this year’s European mahjong calendar.
Over the course of seven exciting rounds, participants demonstrated strategic thinking, precision, and composure — the key elements of success in MCR-style play.

Final results

The winner of the tournament was Bibbi Zhang from Sweden, who impressed everyone with her consistent and insightful play throughout the event.
Gérald Vlamynck from France took second place, showing great tactical awareness and steady performance at the tables.
The third place went to Songqing Lin from China, whose dynamic and confident style earned him a well-deserved spot on the podium.

All three players delivered outstanding performances, and the competition remained intense and balanced until the very end.

Excellent organization and fair play

The tournament took place at the elegant Hotel Moderno** (29 Kolejowa Street, Poznań)**, which provided comfortable and professional conditions for both the games and the participants’ rest between rounds.
The event was supervised by Referee Thibaut Arnold, with Ksenia Trishina serving as the EMA Observer, ensuring fair play and adherence to official standards.

Mahjong unites and inspires

The Poznań MCR Open 2025 proved once again that mahjong is more than just a competition — it is a shared passion that brings together people from different countries and cultures.
In a friendly and respectful atmosphere, players exchanged experience, honed their skills, and celebrated the universal spirit of mahjong.
