On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the city of Warsaw hosted the Warsaw MCR Open 2025 – a prestigious mahjong tournament played under the Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR).
The event, organized by Calisia Mahjong Club, brought together 20 players who competed throughout the day for Mahjong Europe Association (EMA) ranking points.

MERS 1 Tournament

The Warsaw MCR Open 2025 held a MERS 1 ranking, meaning that its results were included in the official European EMA ranking.
Players competed in four sessions, each lasting two hours. The long and demanding rounds required not only a solid understanding of the rules but also focus, mental resilience, and precise strategic planning.

Venue and atmosphere

The tournament took place at the cozy and modern Młody Grochów – Bistro & Event, located at 75 Mińska Street in Warsaw.
The day began with a welcoming breakfast and player registration, followed by four intense sessions of play, interspersed with short breaks and a friendly lunch.
Many participants highlighted the excellent organization, perfect playing conditions, and the warm, inclusive atmosphere that accompanied the entire event.

Tournament winners

After four closely contested rounds, Cyrille Rak from France emerged as the winner of the Warsaw MCR Open 2025, showing consistent and effective play throughout the day and confidently securing first place.

Second place went to Michał Łepik, and third to Łukasz Grzybowski.
Both players represent the Upper Silesian Mahjong Association, confirming the high level of the Polish mahjong scene by taking podium positions among experienced international competitors.

The winners received beautiful trophies, and their results were submitted to the official Mahjong Europe Association ranking.

Referees and organization

The tournament was supervised by Head Referee Marion Hoarau, with EMA Observer Sergio Matos Lima ensuring compliance with international standards.
